Defense Minister Ehud Barak will depart Monday for Washington, D.C. for a meeting with U.S. special envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell. Barak is expected to suggest to the U.S. that he will order a three-month freeze on construction within Judea and Samaria.
Yediot Acharonot correspondent Shimon Schiffer reports, in the name of government sources, that the proposed freeze would not include the approximately 2,000 construction projects currently underway.
