A 23 year old Israeli backpacker was injured when he got in the middle of a gunfight in Bogota, Colombia. The Foreign Ministry said that he was injured, but was expected to recover. According to a friend of the victim, the backpacker, who was on a trip with friends, had planned to return to Israel last month, but decided to stay a little longer. They were supposed to return at the beginning of this week, but the injured backpacker has been laid up in a Bogota hospital and will not be allowed to leave for at least a few more days.
According to the friend, the group was inside a club when they heard the shots and went outside to see what happened. The injured youth was caught in the crossfire between gangs of local criminals.
