Egypt has opened its border with Gaza at the Rafiach crossing for three days. On Saturday, some 400 Gazans were admitted into Sinai, mostly students, top Hamas officials, or Gazans seeking medical care. Abouyt 700 people from the Egyptian side, along with about 10 trucks with merchandise and supplies, crossed into Gaza.

Hamas Gaza Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh paid a surprise visit to the Rafiach Crossing, and said that he hoped he would be able to work out a deal with the Egyptians to keep the crossing open on a regular basis. He said Hamas was ready to cooperate with all parties involved – Egypt, the European Union, and Fatah.
