Speaking Saturday night, MK Dr. Michael Ben-Ari (National Union) said that Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat should not let the left dictate his agenda and turn the situation in the city into a confrontation with the religious and Hareidi population of Jerusalem. "It's a shame that the mayor has decided to damage the holiness of the Sabbath and to upset the delicate balance in the Holy City. However, protesters must make sure to avoid violence. I call on the mayor not to allow himself to be dragged by the left to fulfill its agenda and harm the Sabbath," he said.
A report said that at the close of the Sabbath, the demonstration in Jerusalem grew significantly. At least one Hareidi demonstrator, a 20 year old foreign resident, was severely injured, reportedly after falling off a third story balcony.
