Defense Minister Ehud Barak stated a day before the third anniversary of Gilad Shalit’s captivity that Israel is obligated to return Shalit and will not stop acting to bring him home. “There is no day that we don’t check what is possible to do in order to return Gilad,” Barak said Wednesday at an IDF officer’s course completion ceremony.
Gilad Shalit was captured in a terrorist attack on his tank, near the Kerem Shalom Crossing by southern Gaza. Shalit’s commander, First Lieut. Hanan Barak, and his comrade, staff sergeant Pavel Slutzker, were killed during the cross-border raid.
