Turkey is ready to mediate indirect negotiations if both Syria and Israel are willing to restart talks, a spokesman for the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday. The talks could only resume pending the common will of the two countries, he said. "Turkey has conveyed to the two parties that it is ready (for talks)," Burak Ozugergin told a press conference in the capital city of Ankara.
Ozugergin said that Turkey was working in close cooperation with the U.S. administration and had conveyed that it was ready to resume its role as mediator in the talks. The Turkish-mediated indirect talks ended after Israel launched a three-week offensive to end daily terrorist rockets shot at its citizens from Gaza.
