United States President Barack Obama issued a call to the Iranian government on Saturday night to stop violent repression of political demonstrations. Obama called to refrain from “all violent and unjust actions” against protestors.
At least 19 Iranian protestors were killed Saturday by police and pro-government militias, bringing the total number of dead over a week of protests to almost 50. Protestors have accused the government of rigging recent presidential elections in favor of incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
