(IsraelNN.com) Ethiopia, Israel, and Germany launched a joint 1.5 million Euro agricultural development project on Wednesday to improve small-scale irrigation development activities throughout Ethiopia, the Ezega news site reported. The project will promote sustainable water resource management, improve irrigation productivity, and utilize non-potable water resource, said Agriculture and Rural Development State Minister Beshir Abdulahi.

The project will target close to 1,000 farmers and complements existing government programs to ensure food security and self-sufficiency. Israel Ambassador to Ethiopia Oded Ben-Haim said that Israel is looking forward to working with Ethiopia on food security and climate change. He said he believed the partnership would be successful because Israel has the agricultural know-how and technology and Germany can provide effective training.
