Arab terrorists opened fire at IDF troops patrolling at the Gaza separation fence near Kibbutz Beeri, near the Karni Crossing. IDF Golani troops identified the terrorists before they began firing. There are no reports of casualties.

Thursday morning’s incident occurred after Wednesday’s Security Cabinet decision regarding the situation in Gaza and the fate of the captive soldier Gilad Shalit. The Cabinet gave the IDF authority to respond to any attack against Israel from Gaza. On Monday, a terrorist attack from northern Gaza was averted after the IDF identified armed terrorists approaching the separation fence. A gun battle ensued, killing at least three terrorists and injuring several others.
