In currency trading for the month of May, the shekel (NIS) strengthened against the U.S. dollar by 4.9 percent, according to Bank of Israel statistics. The Bank also noted that the volatility of the shekel was lower in May.
The Bank of Israel also reported that trade in foreign currency for May totaled 81 billion dollars. This is an increase over the April total of 60 billion dollars. Of particular note were the trade activities of foreign financial institutions, the Bank explained.
