The Civil Administration for Judea and Samaria undertook a comprehensive campaign against water theft in the Hevron area on Monday, according to Ynet. At least 12 pools were broken and equipment - mostly pipes - was confiscated. It's the third recent campaign. Two months ago, 100 kilometers of pipe were confiscated.
Marco Ben-Sasson of the Civil Administration told Ynet that Arab farmers often steal water at night from a major pipeline along Highway 60 in order to water their fields. Often they dig up the highway and repair it. The piracy deprives other Arabs and Jews of drinking water and has created a black market that causes water prices to rise.
