The Knesset will vote by secret ballot Monday for two MKs to join the Supreme Court selection committee, which is responsible for choosing new justices to the high court. The race for the coalition candidate is between Yisrael Beiteinu MK David Rotem and Labor rebel Eitan Cabel. Rotem is expected to win the vote.

With regard to the race for the candidate from the opposition, Kadima MK Roni Bar-On is running against National Union MK Uri Ariel. Kadima claims that the candidate traditionally should be from the larger opposition party, but many in the coalition may vote for Ariel since his election would lend the selection committee a more right-wing flavor.
