Palestinian Authority Chariman Mahmoud Abbas will meet with U.S. Mideast peace envoy George Mitchell in Ramallah this week. Abbas spokesman Nabil Abu Rdineh confirmed the meeting and said that Abbas will be briefed on U.S. efforts in the peace process. "Abbas will hear from Mitchell about what the United States is going to do in the coming weeks," Abu Rdineh said.
Before meeting Abbas, Mitchell will meet with Israeli leaders to discuss U.S. President Barack Obama's call for freezing Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria.
