A new law proposal entered the Knesset Tuesday allowing small communities scattered throughout Israel to take greater control of who may or may not enter their town. The proposal was spearheaded by Kadima MKs Yisrael Hasson and Shai Hermesh and National Union MK Uri Ariel.

Arab MK Ahmed Tibi claims that the law is designed to keep Arabs from entering Jewish communities. According to the MKs who proposed the law, it is designed “to preserve the communities ability to fulfill the Zionist dream of creating social communities in the Galil and the Negev.”
