U.S. Commander of Central Command General David Petraeus told the Al-Hayat daily Arab newspaper Monday that a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority would make U.S. troops safer. He said the issue was “very central” to his job as Commander of the U.S. forces in Muslim countries.
“Well I think a lot of things would be better if it were resolved,” Petraeus said about the Israeli-PA conflict. “If there could be a just resolution of this issue that all accept and all support, needless ot say, it removes some of the different arguments that various countries make, that various movements make.”
