Croatia’s Jasenovac Museum depicts the site as a labor camp managed by Jews when in fact it was the largest death camp in the region, said Association of Serbian Jewish Municipalities (SJOS) President Aleksandar Nećak. In an interview with Tanjug, Nećak called the cover up part of "frequent attempts at minimizing the pogrom of Jews in the Jasenovac".

The memorial museum lists the names and data of 75,159 persons who perished there at the hands of Ustasha killers. However, various sources estimated the dead at 80,000 to 700,000 victims, most of them Serbs, and many Jews. A letter of protest sent to Museum head Natasa Jovićević went unanswered. A letter appealing to Croatian President Stjepan Mesić was transferred to the Croatian Ministry of Culture, which has not responded.
