Opposition leader Tzipi Livni attacked the budget the government approved on Wednesday, and said the battle will now pass to the Knesset, which must still approve the budget also. The cabinet approved the budget with a vote of 26 to 4 with only the Shas ministers in opposition.
“I said that we would be a responsible opposition, but the government of Israel is not being responsible,” Livni said. “The public will not tolerate the government taking from its pocket to guarantee the survival of the Prime Minister.”
