Quartet Envoy Tony Blair and Minister of Regional Cooperation Silvan Shalom plan to tour Jenin in two weeks as part of a campaign to promote economic cooperation between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. The planned trip was announced Wednesday. The two will focus on the Mukeible industrial zone.

Blair and Shalom met Wednesday to discuss Israel-PA economic cooperation. Their goal is “to put projects that were frozen into action and to initiate new projects,” aides explained.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has emphasized the importance of building the PA economy in his diplomatic platform, warning that without a stable economy the PA will lack the strength to make real peace.
