The IDF responded to Hamas’ firing of five mortar shells this morning at Israeli targets near Gaza, targeting six smuggling tunnels and an outpost, and injuring four. The exchange of fire comes one day after Hamas leader Khalid Mash’al stated that firing would let up.
Six smuggling tunnels in the Rafah border area were recently targeted by the Israel Air Force in response to the continuous firing of rockets and mortar shells at Israeli Southern communities from Gaza . Approximately 670 Qassam rockets, Mortar shells and Grad missiles were fired at Israel since the beginning of 2009.
