An Israeli company CartaSense, has developed a technology to detect swine flu and other animal diseases before they spread called Bull Connect. The system can screen the health and condition of each pig in a herd from a distance.Sharon Soustiel, CartaSense's chief operation officer said that the system can detect illness early on and prompt handlers to isolate infected animals.
Bull Connect puts a sensor on every animal's ear to monitor temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and location. Sharon said: "All of this physical information can give us in real time the information to know if the cattle are sick or not. We make a wireless network from all of the cattle." The company anticpates the product being on the market within a year.
