Against the background of a possible attack on Iran and the possibility of long-range missile retaliation, Air Force reservists who operate the Arrow and Patriot missile defense systems have begun spending one day a week on duty to increase their readiness, according to a report published by The Jerusalem Post. Previously, only reserve pilots served weekly duty. Head of the Israel Air Force’s Air Defense Division Brig.-Gen. Daniel Milo made the change in a decision last year.
A top IAF officer confirmed that the extra training was part of getting "ready for the Iranian threat”. The officer explained that the reservists are coming in weekly to simulate different scenarios. "We are preparing for barrages, split warheads and other surprises and therefore we need to retain a high operational level by everyone, including reservists," he said.
