The IDF foiled 23 drug smuggling attempts and confiscated 190 kilograms (418 pounds) of heroin the past year, according to the Northern Command. Two of the drug smuggling attempts were from Syria, and the remainder were from Lebanon.
Terrorist groups, including Hizbullah, have relied on drug smuggling as a major source of revenue. The IDF said that it top echelon has decided to invest more forces into preventing drug trafficking and capturing smugglers.
