Israel Road Transport Board chairman Gabi Ben Harush is calling on member haulage companies to prepare for a possible strike by the Histadrut (General Federation of Labor in Israel). Such a strike would severely disrupt the import and export of goods going though Israel's ports.
Two weeks ago, Globes reported that the Histadrut was threatening a strike in the haulage sector, after Ben Harush announced that he would not sign a collective labor agreement with the union. Although there is an agreement in principle, Ben Harush made his signing subject to the Histadrut lifting a labor dispute it had declared at Zim Integrated Shipping Services subsidiary.
