Defense Minister Ehud Barak approved the transfer of 100 million shekels to Gazan banks on Tuesday. The money consists of taxes collected by Israel on behalf of the Palestinian Authority, and is intended to pay the salaries of PA workers in Gaza.
The office of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Wednesday that the PM was not aware of Barak’s decision until the transfer already took place. In addition, the office said that the Prime Minister has yet to decide whether future transfers will take place.
