Prime Minister Ehud Olmert opened Sunday’s cabinet meeting with the issue of the attempted car bomb placed near a busy mall in Haifa on Saturday night. He said that the car bomb no doubt came from Judea and Samaria according to the estimation of the security services.
An alert citizen noticed the car bomb and contacted police who then defused the threat. Olmert noted, “Thank God, sometimes terrorist attacks are prevented by the unusually high alertness of civilians.” He also asked citizens to continue to be alert throughout the Passover holiday season.
