A youth, who was critically injured in his leg after stepping on a mine, subsequently fell to his death from a military helicopter that evacuated him on Wednesday.

Three youths entered a fenced-in and marked mine field near Moshav Sdeh Trumot in the Beit She’an region. The two other youths were evacuated from the minefield without incurring injuries.

Active minefields in Israel are especially prominent within the Golan Heights. These are dangerous remnants of Israel’s securing its border with Syria prior to 1967.
