(IsraelNN.com) Iranian protestors threw a shoe at Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as he was riding to speak in a presidential campaign speech, according to Iranian blogs. His convoy sped away from the scene, but supporters of Ahmadinejad called the report a false rumor.

Riots also were reported after escorts of the president wounded an elderly person who tried to hand him a letter. Tossing a shoe at a public figure has become a popular form of protest since an Iraqi journalist threw his shoes at former United States President George W. Bush during a press conference.
