Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas, who heads the Fatah party, has called on Iran to stop “interfering” in its affairs and causing a deeper rift than that which already exists between Fatah and Hamas. He made the comment after meeting with United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who made similar remarks,
Abbas’s complaint followed a call by Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for all Arabs to join the “resistance” against Israel. The Iranian religious leader was attending a conference in support of Hamas, which fought Fatah for control of Gaza nearly two years ago.
