A Spanish court has decided to continue hearing a case against several senior Israeli officials despite the international stir that the matter has caused. The court has called seven current and former IDF and defense officials to testify.
The case was brought by pro-Arab groups against Israeli officials involved in the 2002 assassination of senior Hamas terrorist Salah Shahadah. The groups claim Israel committed war crimes by bombing Shahadah despite his presence in a populated area. Fourteen others were killed in the blast.
Spanish law allows the country's courts to hear cases that do not directly affect Spanish citizens or take place on Spanish soil.
