“Time is flying. It is leaving between one’s fingertips. Even if the government would decide on engaging in battle or discourse, its delineation is needed in a limited span of time,” Defense Minister Ehud Barak stated Wednesday evening, in response to Iran’s initial testing of its nuclear reactor.

“The operation of aggressive and decisive sanctions is needed against the Iranian regime. And in tandem, we should be prepared to consider necessary measures in the event that sanctions will not help to bring an end to their efforts,” Barak stated in a ceremony at the Interdisciplinary Center in Hertzliya.

The Defense Minister feels that Russia, who is taking part in developing Iran’s nuclear reactor, has a central role in stopping Iran from becoming nuclear. “It is difficult to view international sanctions stopping Iran from its nuclear program without the intimate cooperation with Russia, and perhaps with the Chinese and Indians. Only a tight international ring that encircles and is rigid could possibly stop this project,” Barak stated.
