Likud MK Yuval Steinitz told U.S. lawmakers Sunday during a visit to Washington that the Likud is committed to both peace and security in the Middle East. He also reminded the Americans that the Likud has taken historic steps towards peace in the past.

Steinitz said: “Despite attempts to portray the Likud as the extreme right, we should remember that it was the Likud which led to the peace deal between Israel and Egypt and also the Wye Accords.” He added, “The government we form will cooperate closely with the U.S.”
