After being assigned on Friday, the task of putting together a government by President Shimon Peres, Likud chairman Binyamin Netanyahu is set to meet with Kadima leader Tsipi Livni Sunday. Speaking Friday, Netanyahu said "I call on Kadima chairperson Livni and Labor chairman Ehud Barak to join hands to ensure the future of Israel." Netanyahu added that he would meet with Livni and Barak even before he met with the "natural" member of his future coalition, including Shas, Yisrael Beiteinu, etc.
Livni reiterated over the weekend that she would keep Kadima in the opposition, but sources in the Likud said that Netanyahu was planning to make her an offer that would be very hard to refuse – including several top ministerial posts, and a veto vote on policies Kadima is not prepared to support. Kadmia sources said that Livni could face pressure from Kadima Mks to reconsider her position, if Netanyahu's offer is good enough.
