Major Western currencies were fixed at lower rates against the shekel on Thursday. The United States dollar declined .172 percent to NIS 4.054. The euro was fixed at 5.2017 shekels, a drop of 1.044 percent.

The pound sterling slipped 1.229 percent to NIS 5.7636.
