Prime Minister Ehud Olmert approved an NIS 2 billion increase to the defense budget Monday. The increase is intended to help restock the IDF with ammunition and gear used during Operation Cast Lead.
The budget increase will have to be funded by the next Prime Minister. Elections take place Tuesday but Olmert will remain acting Prime Minister until a new coalition is formed.
