IDF Manpower Chief General Elazar Stern will pay soldier Hananel Dayan 31,500 shekels in an out of court settlement for passing classified military documents about the soldier to the media. Dayan was vilified by the media after refusing to shake former Chief of Staff Dan Halutz's hand at an award ceremony.
Dayan refused to shake Halutz's hand because of the fact that Halutz was in charge of the 2005 Disengagement from Gaza. He discovered that Stern had passed documents to the media in the course of a separate lawsuit he brought against media personality Yair Lapid for slander.
