The consortium that reported last week it may have discovered a huge gas field in the Mediterranean Sea near Haifa announced it is drilling at two additional sites. Work will begin at Tamar-2 and Dalit-1 in order to confirm the quantities of gas estimated at the Tamar-1 site.

The new drilling is estimated to be completed in two to three months. The Tamar-1 find may reduce Israel's dependency on foreign exporters of gas.
