Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni spoke to her counterparts in Cyprus on Saturday night and asked them to remove weapons from an Iranian ship anchored in the country's Limassol port. The ship was stopped last week by the United States military following suspicions that the vessel, which bore a Cypriot flag, was carrying arms to Gaza.
On Thursday Cypriot officials searched the boat and announced that it was carrying explosives that apparently violated United Nations resolutions. However, authorities retracted that statement on Saturday, and said they would conduct a second search to clarify the situation.
