Movement for Quality Gov't asks Meeting on Channel 10

The Ometz Movement for Quality Government asked Chairman Robert Ilatov Friday morning to convene an urgent meeting of the Knesset Economics Committee to reconsider its vote, earlier this week, not to extend the license of the franchise holder for Channel 10 television. Only three of the 15 members of the committee were present for the vote, which came after the station was unable to repay 103 million shekels in debts.

The station has been given until March to make good on the debts. Ometz says that by holding new competitive bidding for the franchise, the station will collapse and hundreds of employees will be out of work
