Hamas Spokesman: No Shalit without Prisoner Release

Hamas spokesman Moshir al-Masri said Sunday that "Gilad Shalit will not see the light of day as long as the prisoners held in Israeli prisoners are not released," according to nana/10. Al-Masri was reacting to comments earlier in the day by Transportation and Road Safety Minister Shaul Mofaz, a former Israeli Chief of Staff and Defense Minister.

Interviewed by a Tel Aviv radio station Sunday morning, Mofaz said, "As long as Shalit does not see the light of day, [Hamas Gaza leader Ismail] Haniyeh won't see the light of day. As long as Shalit is not set free, none of them [Hamas leaders] can walk the streets of Gaza." The Hamas leadership has reportedly been hiding under a Gaza hospital since the start of the Cast Lead counterterror campaign.
