The population of Tel Aviv-Yafo has hit an all-time high of 391,300, the municipality has reported. The data was taken from research conducted in the summer of 2008.

Tel Aviv's population is older than that in the rest of the country, with more than 14 percent of residents over the age of 65, compared to less than 10 percent nationwide, and only 17.4 percent under age 14, compared to more than 28 percent nationwide. Those living in Tel Aviv are above the national average in employment and more are single: 41 percent of men and 35 percent of women in the city are unmarried, while nationwide the percent of unmarried men and women is 34 and 27 respectively.
