Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Gabriela Shalev has filed a complaint with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon over Hamas's use of civilians as human shields. The IDF is doing everything in its power to avoid civilian causalities, she said, while Hamas uses local civilians as cover and fights from within hospitals, schools and mosques.
Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi said earlier in the day that Hamas had prevented many civilians from leaving areas in which heavy fighting was taking place. Ashkenazi also reported that Hamas terrorists have dressed up as IDF soldiers during the Gaza battles.
