The President of the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Pöttering, has called for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and the Hamas.

During the European Union's Monday parliamentary session in Strasbourg, France, 105 parliamentarians voted in favor of a resolution on the conflict in Gaza, while 86 voted again a resolution, which will be voted on this Thursday.

Hans-Gert Pöttering stated last week, "The European Parliament strongly advocates an immediate end to the violence from which the civilian population is suffering most.”
