(IsraelNN.com) Shimon Gapso, mayor of Nazareth Illit, has asked Public Security Minister Avi Dichter to cancel a rally in support of Hamas-led Gaza scheduled to be held in his city. The rally could lead to friction between Nazareth Illit and the primarily Arab city of Nazareth, he said, and could even cause riots.

The rally was organized by the Arab Knesset faction Hadash, and will call on Israel “to end the offensive and the siege.” Yisrael Beiteinu (Israel Our Home) activists are planning to demonstrate in support of the IDF while the rally is held on Saturday.
