Radio Darom (Southern Radio) will go to silent mode at 4 pm and will remain on silent mode throughout the Sabbath, in order to facilitate observant families as well as everyone else to be able to keep their radios on so they can hear the Color Red siren if need be.
Radio Darom's broadcast transmitter is being used as a platform for the siren since the reliability of the system in Be'er Sheva is still in question. Radio Darom's frequency in Be'er Sheva is 97MHz FM. Other frequencies are used in other parts of the south.
