Director Chaim Yellin of the Eshkol Regional Council reacted on Friday to the opening of commercial crossings between Gaza and the rest of Israel by saying, "I had hoped, after a night like this, when dozens of mortar shells and Kassams were launched, that the crossings would be closed," according to Ynet.
He added, "I must admit that I stopped understanding the considerations that go into the continued transfer of goods to those same Palestinians 'for humanitarian reasons'. Why are humanitarian needs always one sided?
