The parents of Rivka Holtzberg, who along with her husband Chabad Rabbi Gabriel Holtzberg was murdered in the Mumbai massacre, will light Chanukah candles Thursday night in the city formerly known as Bombay, Indian television reported. The Holtzbergs' two-year-old son Moshe, who was saved by his nanny in the Chabad House murders, now is being brought up by his Israeli grandparents.
The Chanukah candle lighting will take place at the Gateway to India, a symbol of the city. The family's physician Dr. Aaron Abraham told IND television that Rabbi Holtzberg used to light candles every year at the Gateway. "His was a small attempt to give the message that we are Jews and we are enjoying this festival. He would light the candles with people from the local Jewish community. I remember I was here last year with my wife and kids and we all danced," he said.
