The American Jewish Congress (AJC) has sharply criticized UN Human Right's Commission director Richard Falk and the head of the U.N. relief agency in Gaza for their criticism of Israel that included alleged distortions of the law.
“Not only do these two highly-ranked U.N. officials ignore persistent rocket fire from the Strip directed at Israeli civilians, which is the context for the Israeli sanctions, but they falsify what international law actually requires of Israel in this difficult situation,” said AJC U.N. Task Force Chair Vivien Weissman Howard.
Contrary to "Professor Falk’s complaint that Israel allows in only enough food 'to stave off mass famine and disease,' even if there were a modicum of truth to the statement..., Israel is in fact in compliance with international law." Howard added.
