Calm in Sderot Predicted while FM Livni meets Mubarak Reported: 04:15 AM - Dec/25/08
(IsraelNN.com) “The Hamas surely would not want to shame the president of Egypt while he is speaking with Foreign Affairs Minister Livni,” told a senior security official to Maariv on Wednesday. The official claims that the security forces are waiting for Tzipi Livni’s meeting on Thursday in Cairo with Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak. The official predicts that Hamas will not continue firing rockets towards Israel while Livni meets with Mubarak. The official added that Hamas has recognizably lost control of the situation. “The situation in the Gaza Strip has left the entire control of the Hamas. We see the addresses on the rockets and understand that Hamas does not stand behind the majority of the launches. Now that the Hamas understands that we are on the way to change the situation, it wants to clean up, but it has problems. The firing into Israel is done without coordination with Hamas.”
