Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said on Tuesday that Egyptian President Hosni Mubark would advance a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas. Abbas spoke after meeting Mubarak in Cairo. Abu Mazen said that during the meeting, it was agreed that a reconciliation agreement between his Fatah faction and Hamas should also be advanced.

Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni is scheduled to meet with Mubarak and other Egyptian officials in Cairo on Thursday.
