The Efrat organization, which distributes anti-abortion information and assists pregnant women in economic distress, expressed satisfaction at statistics released Tuesday by the Health Ministry, which show a decline in abortions in 2007. Efrat founder, Dr. Eli Schussheim told Arutz 7 that the latest figures are the lowest since the 1990's and that they'll go down further in the years to come.
The figures included those of abortions where continuation of the pregnancy would endanger the life of the mother or cause her bodily or mental harm. Abortions in this category declined 45 percent from 1990 and 13 percent from 2000.
